FAQs

Frequently answered questions

1. Are there any requirements to become part of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Officials team?
The only requirement we ask for to take the access test is that you must be of legal age.

2. Do I need to pay to take the access test?
No, all procedures (registration, call for applications, examination…) are completely free.

3. After passing this access test, can I join any Race Official group?
With this test you can join the Track Officials, Pit Lane Officials, and Logistics Officials groups. For the rest, you need to have gained experience and/or hold the corresponding federation license.

4. Does the Circuit cover my travel and/or accommodation expenses?
You must arrange and pay for any arrangements to come to the races yourself since, as this is a volunteer position, we cannot cover these types of expenses.

5. Is it mandatory to attend all races?
It’s not necessary as we try to rotate with all the people we have in our database.

6. Are races only held during weekends?
Yes, you can check the races in the 2024 Calendar. As you’ll see, some races are two days (Saturday and Sunday) while others are three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), such as the F1 GP, MotoGP GP, 24 Hours races…

7. Once I pass the access test, when and how will I be called to attend races?
We will provide you with the contact details of the person in charge of coordinating track controls so that, when you’re available for a race, you can contact them directly.
During the first races, you will be on reserve, meaning you’ll be assigned to controls where people are needed, and over time, you’ll be assigned a fixed control position.

8. Can I attend a Grand Prix (Formula One GP or MotoGP GP) having only taken the access test?
For certain races, including these two, it is mandatory to meet both of the following requirements: have experience as an Official and hold the corresponding federation license.

9. What is the Official Card and when will I receive it?
The Official Card certifies the person as an Official of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with all the advantages this entails.
This Card is sent to all those who have passed the access test and have volunteered at a minimum of three races during the previous and current season.

10. What is the difference between the Official Card and the federation license?
The Official Card is a document that accredits you as an Official of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and is only valid internally, meaning it has no validity outside our facilities.
The federation license, on the other hand, is a document issued by the corresponding federation that certifies, after passing an exam, knowledge in the discipline in which the person has been examined (Route Official, Timekeeper, Technical Steward, Sporting Steward, Race Director…).
