Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has completed another season at full performance, which has been enjoyed by thousands of people, and this is corroborated by the figures. Before closing the sporting year, the Catalan track has taken stock of the year and revealed the sporting calendar for 2024, with some novelties.

91% Occupation Rate

The Circuit closes the 2023 season with an occupation rate of 91%, and a total of 332 days of activity. The total figure can be distributed into 219 rental days and 113 race days. Twenty-eight days were spent carrying out works and maintenance tasks and there were only five days with no activity at all. The 91% occupancy rate this year -with 332 days of activity- improves the figures of the last seasons, and is the highest in the last six years, beating the occupancy rate of before the pandemic.

After 12 intense months, the Catalan track has offered its facilities for multiple experiences such as private and collective training (for car, motorbike and cycling competitions), incentive and training days, driving courses, filming, presentations, events, educational visits and many more.

605,634 Attendees

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has opened its doors to a total of 605,634 visitors this year 2023. This is the second highest number in the last 10 years, only surpassed by 2013 (618,896). The most attended event was once again the FORMULA 1 AWS GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2023 with a total of 284,066 attendees over the four days of the event. On Sunday, 125,565 people attended the Circuit. This is the fourth edition with the highest attendance in the history of the Circuit, only exceeded by the 2008, 2007 and 2006 editions.

In second place is the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP™, with 152,065 attendees in three days, 71,855 fans on Sunday alone. In third position was the Catalunya WorldSBK Round. A total of 32,140 people visited the Circuit during the three days of activity.

€12,888,083 of Economic Impact in the Printed Press

The interest generated by the activities staged at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya continues to grow. According to data from Onclusive (formerly Kantar Media), the Circuit has obtained a print media impact of  €12,888,083. This is the highest figure on record, far exceeding last year's figure (€8,201,242). This upward trend has continued since 2016 (4,491,816), and in just a few years media interest - and consequently its impact - has almost tripled. The journalistic pieces published on topics related to the Circuit and its activity have also increased, with a total of 1,712 news items that have seen the light of day, compared to 1,657 last year.

More Commitment to Sustainability

The great milestone of the Circuit in terms of sustainability has been to become the largest public self-consumption photovoltaic installation in Catalonia. It did so within the framework of the e-Mobility Experience, the fair dedicated to electric mobility held last October. That weekend saw the inauguration of the panels on the roof of the Main Grandstand of the Circuit, a space with a total of 1,239 solar panels occupying 2,710 square metres and generating an energy volume of 0.88 GWh per year. The volume of kWp installed is 615 (combined data of Main Grandstand, marquee and roofs). In total, the installation will generate 33% of the energy consumed by the Circuit every year.

16 Sports Events for 2024

The 2024 sporting year will feature a total of 16 events across a wide range of disciplines and some of the world's best racing championships. Fans will be able to enjoy three events with world championships: the Pirelli Catalunya Round (22-24 March), the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP™ (24-26 May) and the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2024 (21-23 June).

As a novelty, the Circuit will host the GT Winter Series, a competition that has already visited the Circuit on several occasions behind closed doors. On 9 and 10 March, this will be the opening event of the calendar. As usual, the races with the Circuit's own hallmark will also be present, as well as other international and national motorcycling and motor racing events.
