A wide array of sustainable transport to get to the Circuit during the F1 Spanish Grand Prix

With Rodalies de Catalunya providing an extra 285,600 seats on their trains and Sagalés a special service for those coming by coach, travelling by public transport to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the best option.

13 June, 2024 | Formula 1

The special public transport schedule set up for the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2024 makes it easier to travel to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the fastest, most comfortable and sustainable way.

BY TRAIN

So fans can get there faster, Rodalies de Catalunya will reinforce its service with 285,600 additional seats and set up a special programme that ensures higher than average frequency during the hours when a greater influx of passengers is expected.

As in previous years, special daily trains will run, adding to the usual schedule of the R2 Nord line (Airport – Barcelona – Montmeló – Maçanet), but additionally this year the R11 (Barcelona Sants – Portbou) line will be enabled to reach the Circuit.

Rodalies de Catalunya will ensure an average frequency of 10 minutes, with up to five trains per hour at peak times. This means a capacity of 7,000 travellers per hour and more than 50,000 travellers between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm at weekends. These services will be available from the Friday of the Grand Prix until Sunday (21-23 June).

In order to facilitate and speed up the purchase of tickets, Rodalies de Catalunya will programme the ticket vending machines so that the first ticket displayed on the screen is a return ticket to the town of Montmeló, near Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

In addition, passengers arriving on AVE-Larga Distancia trains at Barcelona Sants will have connections to Montmeló on the services of the R2 line and the ticket to travel on Rodalies de Catalunya will be included.

BY BUS

Autocars Sagalés will also offer its services to attend the Grand Prix. The L418 coaches will leave from the Barcelona city centrefrom the Estació del Nord bus station (C/Ali Bei, 80). From here travellers will be able to change to both the metro and Rodalies de Catalunya services, as the station is located next to the Arc de Triomf stop. Arrivals will be near Gate 3 of the Circuit.

The service will be available on Friday 21 June from 8:00 am, Saturday 22 June from 9:00 am, and Sunday 23 June from 7:00 am, every day until 1:30 pm on the outward journey. For the return journey, the service will run from 3:30 to 7:00 pm on Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, and from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday. Between 8:00 am and 12 noon, 2 coaches will depart every 3 minutes, i.e. 40 coaches per hour. Tickets can be purchased on the Sagalés website.

Coaches will also be leaving from the Barcelona coast (specifically, Lloret de Mar), and will pass through several towns on their way to the Circuit, arriving in front of Gate 3. Tickets can be booked here.

There will also be transfers from Montmeló station to the Circuit, as well as from the Circuit to Montmeló station, via a free transport service. These buses will be available outside the train station and in Plaça Ernest Lluch from 8:00 am and will go to Gates 6 and 7 of the Circuit. They will then return to the station. To leave the Circuit, these buses can be taken from the Pèndol roundabout (Verneda del Congost, next to the Viena restaurant) and from a spot at Gate 6 until 6:00 pm.
